We had some amazing adventures close to home, visiting the Cave of the Winds, Garden of the Gods, Olympic Training Center, and Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Andrew is a classical violist, and it was such a delight to welcome him to the band. Band members listened enchanted as Drew played his viola for us during an impromptu concert he gave one afternoon, and then they had the opportunity to draw the bow across the strings themselves. On our final afternoon we had high tea in the castle parlor, and Drew was invited to perform for all the guests. We were honored that Drew represented the band in such a beautiful way! For his ode, Drew is composing a 12-minute classical piece for viola and piano. His composition is a work in progress, but you can view a draft of Andrew’s sheet music and listen to a short section of the music here.
