Anyone can travel with The Wayfaring Band! Our trips are open to adult travelers who experience cognitive and developmental differences, as well as neurotypical leadership fellows. All members of the band have access to the same experiences on tour: adventurous activities, recreation and relaxation with friends, and a chance to increase life and leadership skills by participating in our vigorous social leadership program. No matter your desire for exploration, growth, and transformation, The Wayfaring Band has an adventure in store for you. Be a part of it!

Most of our tours welcome 10-12 travelers to the band. Those travelers join five trained staff members (or “roadies”), and one artist-in-residence for an inclusive, transformative adventure. All trips fill on a first-come, first-served basis. When trips fill, we will create a waitlist. Email us to register!

Join the band as we venture to the Big Easy for one of the most (in)famous celebrations of all time. Mardi Gras season is rich in revelry and steeped in the culture of New Orleans, and we can hardly wait to collect beaded necklaces, admire the parade floats, and tap our toes to the beat of the second line. We’ll be in town on the early side of Mardi Gras when the locals are celebrating, so there will be plenty of opportunities to eat beignets, sip Café Dumond coffee, chow down on shrimp po’boys, and wander the French Quarter before the crowds take over the city. We will be staying in private housing in the Garden District away from the insanity of Bourbon Street and just a block off the parade route, but nevertheless this tour is recommended for travelers who don’t mind crowds and a high level of stimulus. Come on down to the Crescent City, and laissez les bons temps rouler!

If the state of our union has you feeling pensive, perhaps it’s time for a trip to our nation’s capital to dive more deeply into civil discourse and our country’s history. This spring break the band will journey to Washington, D.C., where we’ll tour national monuments, visit the major museums, and – of course – exercise our freedom of speech and right to peacefully assemble on the National Mall. We’ll meet with representatives to learn more about the importance of the Disability Integration Act, and we’ll research the history of the ADA and the role of ADAPT in steering legislation. Together, we’ll educate ourselves about both American and disability history so we can become more effective self-advocates and allies. Nothing about us without us! This tour is wheelchair-accessible.
