2019 Upcoming Opportunities

Anyone can travel with The Wayfaring Band! Our trips are open to adult travelers who experience cognitive and developmental differences, as well as neurotypical leadership fellows. All members of the band have access to the same experiences on tour: adventurous activities, recreation and relaxation with friends, and a chance to increase life and leadership skills by participating in our vigorous social leadership program. No matter your desire for exploration, growth, and transformation, The Wayfaring Band has an adventure in store for you. Be a part of it!

Most of our tours welcome 10-12 travelers to the band. Those travelers join five trained staff members (or “roadies”), and one artist-in-residence for an inclusive, transformative adventure. All trips fill on a first-come, first-served basis. When trips fill, we will create a waitlist. Email us to register!

RAFTING AND CAMPING ALONG THE RIO CHAMA, NM

It’s time for an epic outdoor adventure! If you’re more of a country mouse than a city rat, join the band as we take a 3-day float down the Rio Chama in New Mexico. We’ll board our bus in Denver and head south, spending the first night in the town of Taos. Then it’s off to Abiquiú, the famed home of painter Georgia O’Keeffe, to meet our team of professional river guides. We’ll load up our rafts and push off into the swirling waters of the Rio Chama, enjoying colorful, striated sandstone canyon walls and tall pines on our leisurely float down the river. Each day we’ll stop to hike and explore the many treasures within the canyon, including hot springs, dinosaur tracks, and ruins of Ancestral Puebloan dwellings. For two nights we’ll sleep under the stars on the sandy beaches of the river. Categorized as a Class 2, this is an easy float appropriate for beginners. All gear except footwear is included. After our river run, we’ll make sure to visit the world-renowned Ojo Caliente Hot Springs before spending a final night in New Mexico – just enough time to snap up some Southwestern souvenirs and sample some proper green chili. Peace and relaxation, here we come!
